Venue: Tlungvel Solar Park

The department in collaboration with Zoram Energy Development Agency(ZEDA) organized a day study tour to the Solar Photovoltaic Plant at Tlungvel since climate change and global warming has become a major concern of the world.

More than 70 students from II, IV and VI semesters along with several faculty members participated in the study tour. Students were given a tour to the solar farm and were shown the various solar energy initiatives taken by the Government.

The main objectives of the study tour-

  1. To create awareness among the students of the harmful impacts of global warming and how to mitigate its effects.
  2. To educate the students about the importance of installing solar energy at home/institutions.
  3. To spread awareness on the effectiveness of renewable resources in combatting global warming/ climate change.

The outcome of the study tour

  1. The students greatly benefitted from the study tour as they were briefed about the importance of solar energy and its cost-effectiveness.
  2. Students were shown live demonstrations on how solar energy systems are installed and how it function.
  3. The students recognized the importance of promoting and using environmentally friendly energy sources for sustainable development.

The tour had a significant and positive impact on the students. By visiting the solar farm, students became aware that combatting climate change largely depends on the awareness level of the masses and the use of renewable energy.
