College Library

A college is considered as an academic institution of higher learning offering three-year degree courses. In colleges, the library occupies a prominent position and it is an important and integral part of the teaching programme. It is not merely a depository of books, but an active workshop instrument in the production of or original thinking. The aim of college education and college libraries in inter-related. College library extends opportunities for self-education to the deserving and enthusiastic students without any distinction. These libraries develop in each student a sense of responsibility in the pursuit of knowledge. College library stimulates the students to obtain, evaluate and recognize knowledge and to familiarize themselves with the trends of knowledge for further education and learning new disciplines.

About the Library

The College Library is the soul of the institution and it acquires, processes, preserves and disseminates information to the user community . It has an extensive collection of books, reference materials for satisfying the academic and research needs of the students and faculty. The Library and Information Centre consists a Reference Section, Circulation Section, Periodical Section. The library has automated all its library activities to provide effective and wide range of academic resources such as books, journals, online databases.

LAYOUT OF THE LIBRARY : The library is located in the sixth and seventh floor, the lower floor accommodates the librarian’s office, the book shelves, lounge area for browsing and IT zone for accessing e-resources, the reception area and the property counter with the guard. The upper room is basically the reading room, with the journals and magazine, question banks, newspaper clippings made available for easy reading. It also has a Research Scholar Reading Room and the Archive Display Unit.

Nature of Work

1. To ensure that library facilities are made user-friendly with effective and innovative library software.

5. To organise Orientation and Awareness programmes amongst the students annually.
6. To ensure that students make frequent visits and make good use of the library.
