Women and Child Development Independence Day Inter College Women's Football Tournament 2024 was held from the period of 7th August 2024 – 15th August, 2024.
A total of four teams competed in the tournament.
The final match took place at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium, Mualpui, in front of a large crowd, with fans from both sides cheering energetically.
The final whistle blew with a 2-0 victory for GHBC, WOMEN TEAM, crowning them the champions of the Independence Day Women's Football Tournament.
Remlalnghaki won the Best Goalkeeper award for her critical saves and consistent performance throughout the tournament.
The top scorer award, goes to Lalfakzuali, who scored a total of 11 goals throughout the tournament, making her the highest scorer. Her remarkable ability to find the back of the net played a crucial role in the team’s success and eventual championship win.
The match and the trophy were both dedicated to our late Associate Professor. Mr. Vanlalpeka (Sir Peka), making the victory even more poignant and meaningful for the team. This dedication reflected the deep respect and admiration the team had for their late professor, honoring his memory through such a significant achievement
The contributions of our alumni could not be overlooked, their unwavering support and generous contributions throughout this journey. Their guidance, encouragement, and resources played a crucial role in the team’s success during the Independence Day Women's Football Tournament Especially Mr. Lalengmawia (Apuia) who is currently playing in Mohun Bagan SG. For providing mentorship and sharing experiences despite his busy schedule. As a highly respected football player, his willingness to take his time out of his demanding career to support and mentor us speaks volumes about his dedication.
