On 18th March 2025, the Psychology Department of Govt. Hrangbana College hosted a session under the Fact Shala University Network, an initiative aimed at promoting media literacy and critical thinking among students. The session was supported by the Google News Initiative and featured Prof. V. Ratnamala as the keynote speaker. The session was attended by 37 students.
Prof. Ratnamala, an esteemed academic in the field of psychology, delivered an insightful lecture on the importance of fact-checking, misinformation awareness, and responsible media consumption. She highlighted the psychological impact of misinformation and how cognitive biases influence people's perception of news and digital content.
The session was interactive, engaging students in discussions on media literacy, misinformation patterns, and strategies to critically evaluate information. Participants were encouraged to apply psychological principles to assess digital content, avoid cognitive traps, and enhance their decision-making skills.
